THEME FOR THE YEAR: In unity and cooperation lies our strength
Background surrounding the school
The school was established in 1978 under the leadership of Mr C.P.Bosman. The learners of that decade played a vital role in the transformation of the new democratic society.
Mr WG (Billy) Heynes took over the reins in 1991 after Mr Davinci Pharoah was at the helm for 1 year during 1990. Mr Heynes was in charge of the school from 1991 till 2012. Mr J N Ferndale took over from Mr Heynes and retired during 2014. Mrs N Chan-King is the present principal of the school.
The school is situated in the far north of Port Elizabeth’s northern suburbs and as such is a melting pot of diverse cultures servicing areas as far as Bloemendal Kwanoxolo, Jacksonville, Timothy Valley, Kleinskool and all the extentions.
Socio-economic conditions impact very harshly on the learners of this community, not withstanding these adverse circumstances, learners are positive and strive to do their best.
The school is well secured with an alarm system in place which is supported with armed response.
We also have a fully equipped computer class with no computers at present. We are still trying to secure donations for computers for the use of the learners.
The school has been a beacon school for sporting achievements and our alumni, SGB and staff are determined to restore the school to its former glory.
Educator, Learner and Non Teaching Staff
We currently have 32 permanent educators with 3 SGB teachers.
The learner total is 1024 learners
Non teaching staff permanently employed is 2. Additional staff – 6 for cleaning and security.
We have a team of very committed educators who offer up their holidays and weekends in order to improve results by giving extra lessons. This is done on a voluntary basis.
Sport has the ability to improve discipline and learner-teacher relationships. We strive to embark on projects to embrace more sporting codes so as to get maximum participation of our learners.
The improvement of learner’s performance has the ability to uplift the community within which the school exists. We sincerely hope that our endeavors can give hope to this community and in so doing ensure that l
earners can make a meaningful contribution to the future of this country.
